Arrangement for Health and Safety

Below are details of the arrangements Q Sustain has in place for achieving our health and safety aims.

Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS)

Prior to any site visit (or wherever relevant) Q Sustain will provide to the client and appointed employee a completed set of RAMS for review. These documents ensure all parties understand the relevant risks that could occur during the operation and how these have been reduced and can be mitigated on site.

Our risk assessment process determines the overall risk score through combining the risk and the probability. Following this, mitigations and actions can be applied to reduce the overall risk to a safer level.

Our method statements describe the purpose and context, materials and tools required, the responsibilities and finally the method to be used. This combination of information leaves nothing unexplained, to ensure work is carried out correctly and minimise risky situations.

Our example RAMS can be seen in Appendix A.

Training

It is the responsibility of the Health and Safety Managing Director to ensure that all staff are suitably competent on matters surrounding Health and Safety so that as a minimum they are able to complete the three tasks laid out in item 4, within the ‘Responsibilities for Health and Safety’ section above. Training will be organised by the Health and Safety Manager to enhance the competency of Q Sustain employees, should there be any shortcomings within the company Health and Safety skillset.

Consultation

Should complex issues arise within the area of Health and Safety that are beyond the competency of the existing employees, the Health and Safety manager will seek out expertise to advise on the matter.

Evacuation

In the event of an evacuation being required from the Q Sustain head office, the Manchester Technology Centre, this emergency situation will be managed by the Bruntwood team (as seen above).
